How we can help
When a roof reaches the end of its life, patching it becomes a false economy. We strip back to the timbers, replace anything that's rotten, and rebuild with new membrane, battens and your choice of slate or tile: a roof that's genuinely built to last.
A lot of the housing stock across Dumfries & Galloway is older than the roof currently on it, which means once we strip the covering off we're often the first people to properly inspect the timbers in decades. We'll always show you what we find before replacing anything, and we rebuild with a modern breathable membrane rather than the old bitumen felt that trapped moisture and shortened the life of everything underneath it.
What’s covered
A re-roof is a strip back to the bare timbers and a rebuild from there. Nothing gets covered over, because what's hidden underneath is usually the reason the roof failed in the first place.
Strip and inspect
The old covering, battens and felt come off completely. Once it's off we can finally see the timbers properly, often for the first time in decades, and anything rotten or sagging gets replaced. We show you what we've found and agree the cost with you before carrying on, so there's no surprise bill once the roof is already open.
Building it back up
New breathable membrane instead of the old bitumen felt that trapped moisture and shortened the life of everything under it, new treated battens, then your choice of slate or tile fixed to the right spec for how exposed your property is. Ridges, verges and valleys finished properly, and ventilation put in so the loft can breathe.
The rest of the roofline
While the scaffolding is up, it's the sensible time to deal with guttering, fascias and soffits if they're tired. Doing it now costs a fraction of bringing access back a year later for the same work.
